Farm to School Act of 2015

A BIG STEP FORWARD FOR FARM TO SCHOOL

Movement on Child Nutrition Reauthorization

Child Nutrition Reauthorization is on the move! On Jan. 20, the Senate Agriculture Committee unanimously passed their version of the Child Nutrition Act reauthorization (CNR), sending it to the Senate floor for final debate. This is a big victory for the farm to school movement, as the bill incorporates all policy priorities recommended in the Farm to School Act of 2015.

Under the bill, funding for the USDA Farm to School Grant Program will double from $5 million to $10 million per year. It also increases the ability of tribal schools and feeding programs to serve culturally significant foods, and expands the scope of the grant program to include early care and education centers, summer food service program sites and after school programs.

This exciting progress is the first of many steps in the reauthorization process. We need your help to keep the momentum going! Click below to learn how you can advocate for farm to school as CNR progresses.
